The IKATU project is creating an educational and community center in Paraguay that opens up new opportunities for young people. The project was initiated by the Florian Wellmann Foundation and the Nelson y Martyna Haedo Valdez Fundación. We visualized the designs of a Paraguayan architecture firm - to make the vision tangible and support its implementation. A project that connects - across national borders.

30 degrees, sunshine and full commitment: Our pbi Allstars competed in the 19th soccer tournament of the Chamber of Architects and Engineers on June 21, 2025. With team spirit and enthusiasm, we reached the round of 16 - unfortunately, that was the end of the game. Nevertheless, it was a great day with a great atmosphere, fair games and real team spirit. Thanks to everyone who fought, cheered and celebrated with us. We'll be back!

For us, sustainability does not begin with construction, but with planning. By signing up to the DGNB sustainability phase, we are committed to integrating ecological, economic and social aspects into our projects at an early stage and in a structured manner. The DGNB initiative supports us in making well-founded and sustainable decisions together with our clients. An important step towards greater quality and responsibility in the planning process.

Xi'an, Baoji and Beijing - three cities that not only impressed us architecturally. On site, we were able to intensify joint projects with a long-standing client with whom we also work successfully in Germany. Particularly inspiring: iconic buildings by Zaha Hadid, Herzog & de Meuron and other international architecture firms. A journey full of new impressions and exciting perspectives.

Our annual kick-off was a great start to the new year! Surrounded by legendary trophies such as the DFB Cup, the championship trophy, the European Championship trophy and the golden World Cup trophy, we experienced an evening full of team spirit, inspiring conversations and impressive highlights, which ended perfectly with a meal together at the Cucina de Egidio restaurant, where we indulged in culinary delights and toasted to a successful year. 

A year full of ideas, clever strategies and creative moments lies behind us - and we look back with gratitude. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the trust you have placed in us and the great collaboration that has accompanied us over the past year. We look forward to 2025 with renewed energy and anticipation and look forward to exciting projects and joint successes.

A special residential project is being built in Worpswede: 12 apartments and 4 houses in modern timber frame construction that meet the strict Efficiency House 40 standard. The natural atmosphere of the timber construction ensures a healthy living environment and blends harmoniously into the artists' village of Worpswede. 

In the middle of the Bremen quarter, in one of the most beautiful residential areas, surrounded by the theater, Café Engel and the Kunsthalle, we are renovating a little gem. This residential building will comprise two residential units and will be extensively modernized to efficiency standard 55. The construction site is somewhat hidden from a logistical point of view - a challenge we are happy to take on.

Our office was honored with the Real Estate Architecture Award 2024 in the Architectural Design category and thus bears the title "Excellent". This internationally renowned award recognizes outstanding architectural projects that impress with their creativity, innovation and sustainability. We are proud of this success and look forward to celebrating it in style!

On 05.09.2024 we celebrate our 20th anniversary! For two decades, PBI has stood for quality, commitment and success. We look back proudly on our history and look forward to the future.

This weekend in Weimar and Dessau, we took an in-depth look at the Bauhaus movement. By visiting museums and the important buildings of the Bauhaus movement, we were able to get a comprehensive picture on site. In the spirit of the visionary ideas of Gropius, Feininger and van der Rohe, we strive to bring the same innovative power and creativity to our work every day.

Our "5 Brüder Ost" project in Hanau is part of what is currently the largest construction project in Germany. At around 50 hectares, the Pioneer site is not only the largest area to be developed in Hanau, but also a pioneering project in the conversion of derelict military properties into urban living space used by the local population.

20 years of pbi architects. We want to celebrate that this year. On 01.09.24 the office will be 20 years old. Residential buildings, kindergartens, schools as well as office and administration buildings have been planned and built over the years. Stations in the BITZ Bremen, our own top floor, Schwachhauser Heerstraße, Stephanikirchof, Am Tabakquartier are behind us. Now we feel at home at the Haferwende. The preparations for the birthday party can begin.

Together with Immacon Projektentwicklung, we are realizing a dream of a lively and sustainable eco-settlement in Neupetershain near Cottbus. Properties are being built there that will be home to families, couples, singles and senior citizens who are looking for an idyllic place to retreat and relax, but also appreciate quick access to life in the big city.

We gave a venerable "HUF" house from the seventies a new lease of life for a private client. The loft conversion blends seamlessly into the attractive architecture of the house. A granny apartment in the outbuilding enhances the building complex. 

Together with Gaus Architekten from Göppingen, we took part in a competition for the construction of a new fire station in Bremerhaven. A field of 9 applicants submitted ambitious designs. Even though our idea did not win in the end, the jury rated it as very successful.

It was that time again last weekend. 20 teams from various offices and administrations met at the ATSV Buntentor sports ground. Great weather, a good atmosphere and exciting games made for an almost perfect day. We will be back next year. 

The move is complete. The whole team is looking forward to the new premises in the Horn-Lehe-West industrial estate. The new office offers more room to breathe and enough space for creativity. Our new address from June 09, 2023 is Haferwende 36A. 

Developing more together. We are delighted with the trust placed in us and the fantastic challenge of being able to work on the development of this project. In Neupertershain near Cottbus, a residential quarter in timber frame construction is to be built in collaboration with Immacon Wien. Our office is supporting the architectural planning of the 48 apartments in 9 individual buildings.

We have developed a new concept for senior living for a project in Nuremberg. There is space for 26 residents in a building that meets today's requirements for comfortable and varied living in old age. Based on a design for residential construction, we adapted the building to the requirements of senior living.

We are back. We wish you a happy new year. Hanau and Bremen are the locations where we are constructing new buildings in 2023. We are building a total of 500 apartments at these locations. The main focus is on hybrid construction. 

Another year is coming to an end, a year full of ideas, plans, challenges and exciting tasks. We wish ourselves and everyone a reflective time to recharge our batteries, recharge our batteries and simply enjoy the new year, which starts on January 9, 2023.

350 residential units in planning. For a project in Hanau, not far from the metropolis of Frankfurt am Main, we are expecting planning permission for 8 new buildings and the construction and refurbishment of an ensemble of the former Pioneer barracks "5 Brüder Ost" in the near future. With the sustainable construction method in wood and the fulfillment of various other criteria, we are striving for certification by the DGNB.

We are now a member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) - out of conviction and because we want to be involved in the DGNB network. In this context, certification is also an important issue for us. Our current project in Hanau is to be awarded Gold status. 

After presenting the new building as part of the redensification a few weeks ago, we are now able to present the result of the extension to the listed farmhouse. The extension, based on the architecture of the new building, blends discreetly into the structure of the old farmhouse. In this way, we have created a link between old and new and preserved the character of the farmhouse.

In close cooperation with art-bau Novus GmbH, we are planning six buildings with a total of 64 apartments. From the underground car park to the extensive green roof, the houses will meet all design and functionality requirements to a high standard. The immediately adjacent Lidl supermarket and a modern commercial building ensure local amenities and access to a good infrastructure.

Living at Krottenbacher Hof - pbi Architekten, in collaboration with Immacon Projektentwicklung from Vienna, is planning the renovation and extension of a listed half-timbered house in the leafy district of Nuremberg-Krottenbach. Together with the new timber-frame construction, an ensemble with a total of 7 apartments in the existing building and 13 in the new building is to be created.

In Bremen Gröpelingen, we have created a design for the extension of the building. Six new, furnished rooms will upgrade the ageing building and offer optimal space. The building application is in preparation. The (construction) work is to be carried out in timber frame construction.

A building application in 10 copies! We have never had this scenario in our office before. We submitted 430 plans - unfortunately still analog and in paper form - together with artbau Novus. Fortunately, this is soon to change with the Online Access Act. Nevertheless, we are proud to have submitted such a large project on time.

2021 has once again demanded a lot from us - changes and challenges have dominated the year. The holidays and the turn of the year are the time to pause, to look back and to look ahead with confidence.  347 apartments. 235 of these are located in listed former barracks buildings - the "5 Brüder Ost" in Hanau. 8 new buildings complete the quarter. The aim is to create a sustainable, climate-friendly residential quarter to KfW 40+ standard.

We had another fun shoot with our photographer Rainer Geue for pbi Architekten's new advertising campaign. The new team presents itself at the entrance of the old tobacco warehouse with familiar and new faces. Aldewin Sareika joined the pbi family today. He already worked with us from 2016 to 2020. A warm welcome back. 

We have moved! We've been in the Tabakquartier for a good week now. The new office is great and has a lot to offer. The company Lucky Walls from Bremen designed our entrance area. The result is sensational. A tribute to projects built and planned by pbi architects. 

A semi-detached house in wood. Address: Im Holze Oberneuland. Together with ArtBau Novus GmbH, we are pleased to realize this project in Bremen's flagship district. Quietly situated with a view of a pond, this house is particularly impressive in its design. The two residential buildings are being constructed using timber frame construction. 

A new project brings us to Hanau. - Here, in an exclusive location in the Rhine-Main region, a new residential quarter is being built on the former site of the Pioneer barracks. Perfectly geared towards the future in ecological terms, with 100% in-house electricity and heat generation, e-mobility and optimal local transport connections. Together with Art Bau Novus GmbH, we are developing over 400 existing and new residential units on the "5 Brüder Ost" site.

It's done! After we opened our location in Aurach near Kitzbühel at the beginning of the year, I was sworn in as an architect for the state of Tyrol by the state building director Dipl.-Ing. Robert Müller on May 21 in Innsbruck.

The location could hardly be better. At 2100 meters above sea level, this property is situated in an idyllic location in Styria. We have extended the property and created a dream location for your next vacation. Four apartments, each with an area of 150m2, offer plenty of space for your vacation in the mountains.

We are moving. At the end of June, we will be moving to Woltmershausen, where a total of 161 modern office and commercial lofts have been created in a former tobacco warehouse from the 1970s under the project development of Justus Grosse, two of which we have now rented. With its solid brick structure and original freight elevators, the old tobacco warehouse retains the unmistakable charm of an old industrial building.

Cineplexx - Great Cinema - With our concept we create an interactive experience for moviegoers. Cinema deserves more attention. With our concept, we will turn Cineplexx into an experience that stands for itself and creates plenty of space for advertising measures. This is particularly attractive for partners from the film industry and the numerous ideas in this concept will involve moviegoers more in their visit to the cinema.

Reutte, a small, tranquil village in Tyrol on the border with Bavaria, is getting two new residential buildings with 5 residential units each. On an underground garage with 10 parking spaces, apartments between 65 and 85m2 will be built in timber frame construction. The appealing design of the timber and plaster façades in warm shades allows the buildings to blend into the landscape as a modern interpretation. 

Not far from Lake Wörthersee in the immediate vicinity of the castle in Ebental, a residential quarter is to be built right next to a small stream. The plans include terraced and multi-party houses that blend in perfectly with the charming surroundings. Our design offers maximum flexibility and enables versatile living in the Klagenfurt commuter belt.

A forest village is to be built on an incredible 210 hectares in the immediate vicinity of the capital city of Vienna. Various forms of housing are planned, from semi-detached houses and multi-generational homes to hybrid solutions that combine living and working. Everything is to be built using a modular timber construction method.

The first project in 2021 will be in Vienna. In the middle of the forest, in a district on the outskirts of Vienna, we are developing a Waldorf school. A building complex that adapts perfectly to nature with different heights on different levels. In the coming years, a kindergarten and a school (grades 1-13) with after-school care are to be built on a one-hectare site.

Good news at the beginning of the year. We are back and we are starting 2021 with new projects and hopefully many hugs. The topic of timber construction will be our focus. PLAN B[L]AU.

At the beginning of the new year, pbi architects will open an office in Kitzbühel, Austria. "As an internationally active office, this step will enable us to tap into a new market, particularly in Eastern Europe. The official opening is the logical consequence," says Thorsten Italiano, explaining the move to Tyrol. The main focus from here is on timber construction.

How do we imagine living in old age? We would like to live where we have lived for many years. We developed the Casa Anziani project for an investor. Apartments with and without services. A central square as a meeting place for communal living. Attractive architecture in which wood plays a major role.

Moordeich is the second largest district of Stuhr after Brinkum and, like Brinkum, borders directly on the Hanseatic city of Bremen to the north. It is characterized by well-kept residential streets with detached houses and terraced houses in beautiful gardens. We have developed a concept for 4 semi-detached houses for an investor. Stone, glass and lots of wood are the sustainable building materials we use. Climate-neutral and recyclable.

For a school in Zell am See, idyllically situated in the mountains, we developed the design for a new building including the conversion of the existing building. Wood and concrete define the character of the new building, which is also based on the existing building, and it was a lot of fun again, even if it wasn't enough in the end. 

In Bremen's Airport City, we carried out an inventory of a car dealership. Now it shines in new splendor. The building is already getting on in years, but small changes can give it a new look. We would like to thank you for your trust and look forward to working with you again. 

We developed a concept for employee housing for a large company in the heart of the Ruhr region. Affordable housing for people on low and medium incomes is in short supply in many parts of Germany. It is precisely for these reasons that a residential quarter is to be built over the next four years. And what makes it special: It's all made of wood.

Canoeing 2020. We are always lucky and the sun spoils us on the tour. From Borgfeld via the Wümme to Blockland - a beautiful day and a great team effort.

We developed a proposal for an office building extension for an investor. The concept is a mix of additional office space and apartments in the middle of the city center. Whether we are allowed to go that high is still up to the city planning department. 

Uniting eight faith communities under one roof also means finding a symbol that works for everyone, beyond the religions. This theme accompanied us for a competition in Vienna. We present the result in a video. Have fun.

We have developed a residential quarter for an investor in which people with dementia can find a new home. The mix of shared flats paired with semi-detached houses for young families is intended to facilitate integration. We are looking forward to a new and exciting task. 

While we have been working with a minimal team over the last few weeks, a new team is currently being formed to take care of pbi architects' projects in the future. We are looking at candidates from 4 European countries. Kosovo, Russia, Italy and Germany now form the pbi family.

The competition for this residential building is based on the basic idea of dividing up the structure to give it a restrained elegance despite its size, creating an inner world through the creation of an H-shape, in which terraces and rooms facing an inner courtyard relate to each other, thus creating many different situations and spatial possibilities.

Due to the current corona crisis combined with the upcoming Easter celebrations, we are giving our team a break. Our office will be closed from April 06-09, 2020. However, you can still reach us by phone or e-mail. 

For the site of the former Kellogg administration building, we have developed a two-grade primary and secondary school concept.

March makes everything new. Spring is coming, the temperatures are rising and our office is facing major changes. In addition to architectural planning and project development, we are adding technical building services planning to our portfolio. What's more: with Hanne Fischer, we have gained an interior designer who now also makes our projects shine from the inside.

At our first meeting with our advertising agency this year, we asked ourselves what 2020 would be like. Will it be pink or will we stay blue? Out of tradition, we are sticking to the familiar. Exciting projects in residential and commercial construction as well as schools and daycare centers await us in 2020.

Today I was able to see for myself: Building 1 at Kurfürstenallee 36 has been completed on the shell side. Now the earthworks for building 2 have started and a lot of earth is being moved, as the underground parking garage is now also being excavated. There has also been a lot of activity on the sales front - there are only a few apartments left to buy.

If you walk out of town along Faulenstrasse and reach the junction at VHS and Radio Bremen, you can already see the dormers. They stand imposingly above the gable roofs and give the new building at number 108 Faulenstrasse a special appearance. Floor-to-ceiling windows on the top floor provide a view of the surrounding area and the nearby ramparts. Completion of the new building is imminent and almost all of the 19 apartments and parking spaces have already been sold.

You will find our office at the ExpoReal real estate trade fair in Munich again this year. From October 7 to 9, we will be a partner of the City of Bremen in Hall B2 / Stand 240. We look forward to exchanging ideas with old and new contacts. 

Sun, fun and sporting challenges. To further promote team spirit, we ventured out on the peat canal in Findorff. Trust, reliability and sporting ambition were evident in the three boats. We finished off with a mini golf tournament and delicious food.

The Allee 36 project in Kurfürstenallee is taking shape. The shell construction work has started. The new construction of 2 residential buildings with a total of 19 apartments is scheduled for completion at the end of next year. 

We have designed 5 terraced houses for a property developer. Residential buildings with up to 170m2 of living space are being built in the middle of the popular Geteviertel district. Construction will start in fall 2019. We would like to thank the developers for their trust.

Today we can announce a new addition. With Carlotta Schulz, we are adding a dual course of study in architecture to our training department. Over the next four years, theory and practice will be taught in equal measure over a three-month period. Alongside Janina Rausch, Carlotta is the second student in our team. A warm welcome.

Our first trainee Pia Husmann passed her final exam after just two years of training. Congratulations to her. She is now moving on to study architecture. All the best for the future, dear Pia.

We are delighted with the roof truss in Faulenstrasse. Yesterday, June 20th, the carpenters toasted our building project and the house has a roof. If the construction progress continues like this, we will be finished by the end of the year.

Construction work is finally starting on our Allee 36 project. Around 3,000 tons of earth have to be moved to give the two buildings with a total of 19 apartments the necessary support. The work will continue until the end of 2020.

We really let it rip on Friday. We celebrated the move into our office with around 100 guests. Even though the weather didn't quite play along, it was a great evening. Many thanks to the hard-working helpers at the party.

Today we are presenting a new sightseeing flight of our F108 project. The shell construction work is in full swing and will be completed by the end of May. By the end of the year, 19 apartments will be built here. 

Spring is here. In keeping with the days off around Easter, we are enjoying the sunny days. We wish all clients and friends of our office a happy Easter. Our office will be back in action from Tuesday. 

Überseestadt in Bremen is growing rapidly. After the district was dominated by commercial buildings, more and more apartments are now being built. Up to 1800 new apartments are to be built on the Kellogg site alone. Facilities such as schools and kindergartens should not be missing. We have developed a concept for a two-track primary and secondary school for the former Kellogg administration building.

We have developed a concept for barrier-free living in the east of Bremen. By converting the existing building, three additional apartments are to be created that will enable older people to live there.

Sales have started! Faulenstrasse in the Hanseatic city of Bremen is a historical institution in the city center. In this well-known quarter, the Italiano planning office is building a residential building with 19 two- and three-room apartments: The F108 project

Grandma's love - Amore di nonna. With this name, a pizzeria is to move into the former Kellogg changing rooms in Überseestadt in the spring. We are delighted to have made an Italian contribution.

An apartment hotel is to be built on Breitenweg, opposite the expected new long-distance bus terminal. Our office has drawn up initial urban planning designs for the conversion and extension. Construction work is due to start in the middle of the year.

Bau 2019 was the first highlight of the new year. More than 2000 exhibitors from 45 countries showcased their products and solutions for the construction industry. Representatives from our office were also invited by Schüco to visit the many exciting exhibition stands.

After completion of the shell work outside the grinding mill, it is worth going to the top. Great views towards Schwachhausen, the quarter and the market square give an idea of the charm of the staggered-floor apartment.

At the weekend, the whole office went on an excursion to the border triangle around Basel. Renowned architects such as Tadao Ando, Alvaro Siza, Zaha Hadid, Herzog & de Muron, Frank O. Gehry and Sanaa Architekten impressed us on the Vitra factory premises. 

A flight over our building site in Faulenstrasse shows the current status of construction activities and proves that our office fits perfectly into the urban development of the Stephaniviertel. 

In addition to the grinding mill, we are building a residential building with 16 apartments and two commercial units by spring 2019. The shell has been completed. The interior work starts now.

At the invitation of Florian Wellmann, we watched a great farewell match for Per Mertesacker on Saturday. 214 Bundesliga games for Werder. That's a reason to celebrate. Thank you very much for letting us be there.

F108: The new construction of 19 apartments and an underground parking garage begins with the 2nd construction phase. The Stephaniviertel is becoming increasingly important. We will keep you up to date here with construction site photos. The concreting of the base slab marks the start. In the meantime, we have built the basement.
 

With the move into the new office, the corporate design has also evolved. The revised website went online today. Have fun discovering the pages. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the attentus team.

The day after the Oktoberfest, the largest trade fair for real estate and investment in Europe starts in Munich. For many years, our office has been supporting the economic development agency at the state of Bremen's own stand. From October 8-10, you can meet our representatives (office and management) Mareike Dittrich and Thorsten Italiano in Hall B 2.240.

The new office: We've actually made it. Our own office in the heart of Bremen's city center is finished. We moved into the new premises at the beginning of September and have felt very much at home ever since. Lots of glass, a lounge, a staff room with its own kitchen and a spacious roof terrace create an exceptional atmosphere. The proximity to the Weser rounds off the feel-good experience. Our office is probably the most luxurious construction site container in the world for the 2nd construction phase that is now starting.
